Over 35 years
ago, Dr. Charles Fraley and his brother Bob Fraley, a successful
business owner and founder of the ministry ‘Bob Fraley Christian Life
Outreach’, envisioned to build an interdenominational ministry in
Africa: HELP THE WORLD / DIRECT. Since then they have been
building numerous hospitals in remote areas, working with volunteer
staff only, who are committed to Christ and are willing to offer their
services and expertise free of charge. Every dollar given is forwarded
directly to the fields of the world, where the needs are so great. All
administrative and office expenses have been freely donated by ‘Bob
Fraley Christian Life Outreach’. Each project is part of 'Africa Inland
Church Health Ministries in Kenya' under the direct supervision of
Charles Fraley. Africa Inland Church, is the daughter church of the
Africa Inland Mission and has about 6000 churches throughout Kenya
alone.
HELP THE WORLD/DIRECT shares your gift and the love of Christ through Medicine and Health Care, Flying Doctor Services, Famine Relief, and by offering help to the blind, deaf and crippled as well as to widows and orphans. HELP THE WORLD/DIRECT is also involved in church development in Africa. Our projects include:
1. Funding The Olive
Fraley Memorial Girl's Dormitory, which is connected to Kijabe School of
Nursing. Getting a proper dormitory with regular study rooms and
conference rooms was a big boost to the school at a time, when our
program was upgraded from an Enrolled status to a regular Registered
Nurse Status. This project cost about $270,000.00 and was officially
opened May 16, 2000.
2. Building a new hospital in order to fully
qualify to start a certified School of Nursing. As more clinics were
developed and running with National Nurses, we started getting many
requests from various parts of the country to assist them in starting a
clinic for their area as a ministry of the church. We gave great detail
in setting up new clinics all over the country so we could be assured
they would keep going over the long term, being staffed with Nurses who
graduated from the Kijabe School of Nursing.
A personal note
from Charles Fraley: "There is no limit to the need for health care in
developing countries, especially in the rural and remote areas.
Although the gov't presumes to take responsibility to provide health
care, the clinics they have in remote areas are
poorly
supervised and staffed. Since graduating national Nurses, we have been
able to build up the number of clinics to around 55, in addition to 5
hospitals around the country of Kenya. When I left, I had 60 more
requests for clinics to be started in remote areas. As I say, their is
no limit to the need."
3. Helping widows and orphans has always
been a part of our ministries, as their are always many widows and
orphans in poor countries. At times,we have been able to donate up to
$20,000.00 to an orphanage in the Nairobi slums. Other times it is
assisting a single widow with children. We also assist them with
medical and health care. Recently, we contributed $1500.00 to an orphans
ministry in the Nairobi slums called "The Least of These", and another
contribution to widows and children who were displaced and living in
tent areas due to a violent time during the last elections. Another
huge source of orphans today are those from AIDS, where the mother and
father die. Sometimes they have relatives to take care of them, and in
many cases they do not. Many have AIDS themselves. Assisting them with
medical treatment, as well as food supplies is helpful.
It
is through these various outreach ministries that your donations and
gifts further the kingdom of God, and manifest the love and salvation of
our Lord Jesus Christ.
HELP THE WORLD / DIRECT works with highly trained and experienced missionaries only, who have already proven their commitment by long years of faithful service. Who know the real needs of the people and are prepared to channel these funds directly to those in the greatest need. These are missionaries who live by faith, and get their support through other means from those who desire to be part of the ministries.
No HELP THE WORLD / DIRECT funds are used for their salaries, office, equipment, etc. Only actual out-of-pocket expenses are covered, such as postage and gasoline to deliver the goods.
